Interactive Christmas Tree is made by using Makey Makey, some LED lights and original sounds that are played through Pure data. I made the music and split it into 4 layers - placing the Christmas ball to any of the marked spots, would activate a single layer of a composition, and this allows you to make your own real-time arrangement of the song.
The whole thing is kind of plug-and-play, it just needs to be connected to a laptop (raspberry pi would fit even better in this occasion, but I was afraid that the sound quality is not the best...). Anyway, the point is that the installation is quite portable, so for the purpose of making this video I decided to improvise a bit and take it outside (we were lucky that it wasn't too cold...). I invited a couple of friends and set up the tree ON A TREE at two places in the city, asked one guy passing by to try interacting with it...I'm thinking what to do with it now, but I definitely feel like putting it in some public context, to celebrate the geeky-Christmas spirit of this winter. I'll let you know how it went ;) Merry Christmas!
